About Me

I’m a twenty-something travel addict, who, like many of my generation, is facing an uncertain future. I graduated college, spent a year teaching English in South Korea quickly followed by a year volunteering in Guyana and am now confronted with what to do next.  This blog will follow me on my journey to figure out what I want to do with my life and all my adventures (and mishaps) along the way.

  1. I just came across your ‘WV woods’ blog…and what can I say?

As a retired full-timer, seeker of sacred spaces, I love living here. The natural beauty is life-giving, but there are some dark corners. The ugliness of the lynched Spider-Man figure along Rt. 9 sent cold chills up my spine every time I drove past it. Fortunately, someone recently had the awareness to complain to the WV state highway authority and it has since been removed, although the property owner vows to replace it.

And about the restaurant..try Earth Dog Cafe next time.

Thank you for your words. It reminds us that our guests gather impressions of the local culture while they are here. What is missing and not easily experienced, however, is the sweet spirit among the vast majority IMHO — of local folk who are loving and accepting of ‘city folk’–much more than in several suburbanized communities I have lived in.

You wrote instructively–sometimes it takes someone on the outside to jolt us into what is right. Thank you.
